Siege of Ásripar

Dæina fought this war with the pen, but now she takes up the sword.

Three hundred years ago, the emperor's most sacred books on magic were stolen. A hundred years later, the loss of that knowledge broke the empire. Now, the continent of Albria is still contaminated with the magic they sought to control.

Quinn has grown up hearing tales of his late father’s expeditions to the continent and the perils he faced. But on the eve of his graduation from an order of warrior-mages, one wrong choice leads to his discharge, and his ability to advance his magic dissolves.

When the wind blows his estranged uncle’s ship into port, his uncle offers Quinn a chance to retrace his father’s last footsteps on the broken continent. New evidence has come to light—the possible location of the emperor’s stolen books—and they’re not the only ones who know.

When the enemy’s cunning is revealed, Quinn questions what success will cost. Will he embrace duty, or will he hold onto his honor?

Secrets Etched in Stone cover: An epic dark fantasy and progression series by Kaleb Erickson. A glowing blue crystal hovers over a circular metallic maze.

Secrets Etched in Stone

Stripped of his magic and branded an exile, a disgraced soldier must seek his only hope in the ruins of the broken continent.

Dæina is haunted by dreams—a memory of indigo flames and the screams of her elders. She’s fought in the shadows for twenty years, stealing the empire’s books on magic, replacing them with forged copies that have misled the empire’s mages and kept them from reaching the higher arts. But she’s finally been caught.

The Qvönar Library now faces an impossible fight. Assassins stalk the night, sappers bring fire, and the empire’s elite army is on the march. She’s long known that the moment she took up the pen, she sentenced her guild to death. But if they can see this through and keep the magic they stole from the empire's hands, it will be worth it.

Siege of Ásripar is an epic dark fantasy and dark academia prequel novella set three hundred years before Secrets Etched in Stone—Book One of Riftworlds.

Kaleb Erickson was born and raised in Colorado. He cut his teeth in the San Juan Mountains, kayaking, climbing, and backcountry skiing.

Over the years, he’s worked odd jobs from raft guiding and firefighting to selling wine and cataloging plants at an herbarium. Through much of those years, writing was a hobby, but eventually that passion grew into an obsession. He now lives in Idaho with his wife and two children.

When he’s not lost to the whims of his world-building muse, Kaleb spends time cooking, camping, and mixing old-time cocktails for his board game crew.
